As you know safety and security are always our top focus at Financial Center Credit Union (FCCU). That's why we're implementing an added-security login process for our online banking users. This enhanced security feature will better protect you against unauthorized access, online fraud, and "spoofed" websites. It's top-level online security for our member-shareholders.
What Is This New Login Process?
This new login technology, called Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), allows you to pick an image from our library and create a unique security phrase which is remembered by FCCU's website. Then, each time you log in and initiate online banking, you will be shown the secure image and phrase that you chose. This confirms you are on the legitimate FCCU online banking web site and that it's safe to proceed with your online banking session.
How Do I Get Enrolled in MFA?
1. Log In:
Log into FCCU's Online Banking with your usual User ID and password.2. Complete the One-Time Enrollment Process:
On your first visit to the improved system, you will be asked to:a. Select a secure image from the online library,
b. Create your own unique security phrase, and
c. Select three "challenge questions" and provide the answers.
3. Enjoy Enhanced Security Everyday:
Once you've completed the one-time enrollment process, you will be asked if you would like to register your computer. This will allow our website to recognize your computer when you visit again. Next visit, just verify your image and phrase, which will display each time you log in, and continue onto online banking.
When will MFA take effect?
MFA began implementation on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 with a small group of members. We have continued to enroll members in small groups through the end of March 2007. Members can expect to see a letter in the mail 3 - 5 days prior to their enrollment notifying them of changes they will see and what to look for.
Do I have to enroll?
Multi-factor authentication is mandatory for all online banking customers.
Can I delay my enrollment?
Yes. Members using Burt Online may delay their enrollment up to 5 times. The sixth login to Burt Online will require members to enroll in MFA.
What If I Log In From a Different Computer?
This is where the "challenge questions" come in. Anytime you log in from a computer that is not registered, you will have to authenticate your identity by answering your challenge questions AND verifying your image and security phrase. This is just one more added layer of security. You will also be able to register other computers you frequently use which will make logging in faster and easier.
You do not need to install any software to take advantage of this new security feature. FCCU will have already implemented this enhancement behind the scenes. You can rest assured, knowing your identity and your accounts are safe and secure at your credit union.
